Vote For Marchelle Paholsky

My Bio

I am running for City Council because Happy Valley is at an exciting turning point. As Oregon’s fastest-growing city, we are projected to welcome one thousand new residents every year. This growth will deeply impact our roads, housing, and infrastructure, but it is not something to fear—it is something we must plan for thoughtfully. Our community is made up of young families, working professionals, empty nesters, and older adults. We need to offer a variety of housing choices while protecting our unique neighborhood character and ensuring our public services keep pace with development. Most of all, I want to foster a true sense of community where every single voice is heard and valued. Together, we can build a Happy Valley that honors our past, embraces our future, and remains the absolute best place to live, work, and raise our families.

My Key Issues

Managing Growth and Long-Term Planning

When I look at the future of our community, I see a clear path forward: we must guide our growth with careful, long-term planning. To do this right, we have to look at the whole picture—our transportation, utilities, parks, schools, and the unique character of our neighborhoods. Every decision I make will be focused on keeping us safe, welcoming, and ready for future generations. That means ensuring our housing stock actually meets the needs of our growing families. Most importantly, we must build our infrastructure to support growth before development happens, not after. I am ready to bring this proactive approach to local government, ensuring we grow responsibly while protecting the community we love.

Improving Transportation and Mobility

When I talk to neighbors across our community, traffic is one of the issues I hear about most. We need practical, long-term solutions that improve safety, ease congestion, and ensure our transportation infrastructure actually keeps pace with our growth. Planning ahead today is the only way we can avoid much larger challenges tomorrow. Right now, Happy Valley is leading the way in e-bike safety enforcement, and I want to build on that momentum. My focus will be working closely with our state representatives and senators to help craft sensible, statewide legislation that keeps all of us safe on the road. Together, we can plan for our future and keep our community moving forward safely.

Supporting a Strong Local Economy

A healthy local economy benefits everyone in our community. I am committed to supporting policies that encourage responsible business development and help our local businesses succeed. I want to create vibrant places where we can shop, dine, and work close to home, while always maintaining the unique character that makes Happy Valley so special. To achieve this, we must look at how we manage growth. I will work on updating our development codes, making it clear what kind of development we want to allow in our community and what we do not. By being intentional about our codes, we can build a strong, thriving economy that works for all of us while preserving the Happy Valley we love.

Fiscal Responsibility

Every single dollar of our public budget represents the trust you place in our local government. I believe we owe you absolute transparency in how your hard-earned money is spent. That means committing to thoughtful, long-term financial planning and investing in projects that deliver real, lasting value to Happy Valley. If elected, I will work to open up our city finances so you can easily see how we fund new projects. Most importantly, I want us to be completely upfront about the actual, real-world costs of future developments for the everyday Happy Valley resident. You deserve to know the true impact on your wallet before decisions are made. Together, we can build a financially responsible future based on honesty, trust, and smart planning for our community.
